இராக்கில் ஷியா முஸ்லிம்களின் புனித யாத்திரை ஒன்றில் நடந்த தற்கொலைக் குண்டுத்தாக்குதலில் குறைந்தது 40 பேர் கொல்லப்பட்டுள்ளனர். பலர் காயமடைந்துள்ளனர். தலைநகர் பாக்தாத்துக்குத் தெற்கே நடந்த இந்தத் தாக்குதலில் குண்டு பொருத்தப்பட்ட சட்டையை அணிந்த ஒருவர் ஷியா முஸ்லிம்களின் கர்பாலா நகரிலிலுள்ள புனிதத் தலத்துக்கு நடந்து போய்க்கொண்டிருந்த பக்தர்கள் மத்தியில் வெடிக்க வைத்திருக்கிறார்.

இறைதூதர் முகம்மது அவர்களின் பேரனான இமாம் ஹசெய்ன் அவர்களிற்காக நடத்தப்படுகின்ற வருடாந்த நினைவு நிகழ்ச்சியின் கடைசி நாளனான இன்று ஞாயிற்றுக் கிழமை இந்த யாத்திரை நடத்தப்பட்டது. இந்தக் குண்டுத் தாக்குதலுக்கு முன்னதாக பாக்தாத்திலிருந்து தெற்கு நோக்கி நகர்ந்து கொண்டிருந்த இந்த யாத்திரிகர் மீது சில சிறு தாக்குதல்கள் நடந்திருந்தன.

Sultanpur, Sept. 7 (PTI): Over 100 Muslim couples exchanged vows again after the Barelvi school 'fatwa' had annulled the 'nikah' of over 150 people for attending a funeral prayer led by a cleric, who according to it, does not subscribe to the Sunni faith.

The "remarriage ceremony" was performed at Pancho Peeran village of this district last night and was solemnised by Maulana Hafiz Rabbani, Maulana Aas Mohammad and Hafiz Mohammad Shah of the Barelvi school of Muslim thought even as security forces were deployed in the area to maintain peace.

The Pancho Peeran Dargah Committee today reacted strongly to the 'fatwa' decreed on August 28 after the 'namaz-e-janaza' (funeral prayer) a day earlier, and threatened to move court to seek redressal.

Its secretary Matin Khan alleged local BSP Lok Sabha MP Mohammad Tahir was "behind" the whole controversy and accused him of "conspiring to usurp dargah property".

"Md Tahir does not consider the disciples of the dargah as Muslims and therefore had a fatwa issued against the Sufi 'mufti' who led the funeral prayer, and annulled the nikah of the participants," he told reporters in Lucknow.

Tahir's PRO Syed Ehsan Ali refuted the allegations and said he had "nothing to do with the fatwa. Its a religious matter and we have no comment on it".

In another fallout of the 'fatwa', no one now appears ready to lead funeral prayers in the village.

இதே மசூதி 2005இலும் 2006இலும் சுன்னி பயங்கரவாதிகளால் தாக்கப்பட்டது. தற்போது உள்ளே வெடிமருந்துகளை வைத்து தூள் தூளாக சித்றடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Shiite shrine is reported blown up in Baquba

Baghdad - The Shiite shrine of Ahmed Ibn Imam al-Kadhim in the northern Iraqi city of Baquba was blown up Saturday by unidentified gunmen, witnesses told a local news source.

The independent Voices of Iraq news agency quoted a resident, Mohammed al-Tamimi, as saying at least 20 gunmen detonated a large mass of explosive charges which 'completely destroyed' the shrine.

'This is the third attack on the shrine; the first attack was on April 16, 2005 and the second on February 6, 2006,' al-Tamimi said.

Ahmed Ibn Imam al-Kadhim, to whom the shrine was built, was the son of Imam Moussa al-Kadhim. The site, located in the capital of Diyala province, is a pilgrimage destination.

Iran probes 'anti-Shia sermon' in Mecca

TEHRAN: Iran is probing complaints that a prayer leader in the city of Mecca verbally attacked Shiite Muslims amid efforts by Tehran and Riyadh to improve their occasionally strained relations.

The hardline Jomhouri Islami newspaper on Tuesday claimed that television broadcasts of last Friday's prayer sermon in Mecca were cut short after the prayer leader implied that Shiites had "nothing to do with Islam".

Jomhouri Eslami reported that prayer leader Sheikh Saleh Al-Taleb had said in Mecca on Friday that "one of the non-Arab nations is provoking a sectarian crisis," in a reference to Shiite Iran. According to the allegations, also repeated on Iranian state television, he added, "The role played by this group has nothing to do with the prophet," in reference to Shiite Islam.

There was no confirmation from Saudi Arabia concerning the text of the sermon.

"I did not actually listen to actual words, but our embassy in Riyadh is pursuing the matter," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said.

"There were some speeches regarding the (Shiite) imams, our embassy has discussed it with the officials there. We hope that the sanctity of the different Islamic sects is preserved and we all follow a unified path."

The head of Iran's organisation for hajj has also protested to the authorities in Riyadh that Saudi security forces were mistreating Iranian pilgrims visiting Mecca. afp
